‘Summer, What Summer?’ is Good News for Us!

This has been far and away the best year for grass and silage. Lush grass and delicious silage can only mean one thing for Simon Cannings, our Rofford Farm manager,…., terrific cattle.

Our thirty pure Aberdeen Angus beef steers are thriving in these conditions and will be truly excellent when they find their way to Quod, the Old Parsonage and Gee’s this November. The fantastic quantity and quality of silage will ensure the herd is well fed over the winter months when they are out of the fields and inside the barns.

Sadly the lambs are now finished, we hope you all enjoyed the amazing tenderness and flavour. As far as the Oxford Sandy and Black pigs are concerned, they are developing well in their free range pens and should be ready at the end of August and September. This year we experimented with producing our own bacon with mixed results, but are confident that practice makes perfect.
