November bulletin from Jeremy Mogford
I was very fortunate to acquire the Old Parsonage Hotel over 25 years ago and my dream was to create a superb hotel, restaurant and bar with great art and a genuine ‘home from home’ feel. My dream came true and the hotel has become a huge success.
The constant popularity of the Old Parsonage with both local customers and visitors has meant that we have literally outgrown our infrastructure. Behind the scenes we have been creaking! Our kitchen required updating and the relentless demands placed on the fabric of the building, the electrics and the plumbing by the extremely high occupancy of the bedrooms and the popularity of the Parsonage bar and restaurant could not be sustained. So now, everything is being renewed and replaced.
This well-deserved and timely restoration of a much loved Oxford landmark will be done sympathetically, respecting the integrity of our wonderful building. Our ethos remains to provide the best service and food in the cosy, informal surroundings everyone has grown to love and expect. The interior of all the bedrooms and bathrooms will be redesigned with an addition of five extra special rooms overlooking the rear gardens. The bar will be brought up to date, and a new, state of the art kitchen will produce the best of British cooking.
So… at last, after a year of meticulous planning, November is with us and the four month restoration work has begun. Every month we will update you on our journey towards the reopening of the ‘new’ Old Parsonage. Thank you for your continued support.
You can follow the restoration on our website, twitter or face book.
